Maurkice Pouncey
Round 1, Pick 17
Center
Florida

With a new emphasis on the power game, the Cobras made Maurkice Pouncey their first overall pick in the 2010 draft.  Maurkice comes from a great program and in addition to playing multiple positions, communicated calls at the line of scrimmage and understands rotations and stunts that effect protections.  Highly intelligent and mature beyond his age.

Devin McCourty
Round 1, Pick 24
Cornerback
Rutgers

Devin comes from an up and coming program at Rutgers.  One of the fastest defensive backs in this year's draft, Rutgers personnel also noted his toughness and professionalism.  A highly intelligent player, Devin understands his role and is capable of making defensive backfield calls and adjustments. Devin's noted ability on special teams and his obvious cover skills should get him on the field quickly.

Deunta Williams
Round 2, Pick 36
Free Safety
North Carolina

Williams has a chance to be one of the premiere safeties in the 2010 NFL Draft. He has a reputation for having great ball awareness and is constantly around the action on the field. Deunta has the length, skill and football IQ to make a major impact with the Cobras in his first year in the NFL.

Lamarr Houston
Round 2, Pick 41
Defensive Tackle
Texas

Over the course of his Texas career, Houston developed from an athletic pass rushing defensive end to a powerful and dominating interior defensive lineman.  With advanced hand technique and pass rushing moves he learned while playing defensive end, few offensive linemen can keep Houston in check as he goes after the ball.

Golden Tate
Round 2, Pick 48
Wide Receiver
Notre Dame

A true touchdown maker, Tate is noted for his ability to break tackles and make big plays whenever he gets his hands on the football.  The 2009 Biletnikoff Award winner in college football, Tate scored 30 touchdowns during his career for the Fighting Irish.  Tate brings a running back mentality to the wide receiver position.

Chad Jones
Round 3, Pick 68
Strong Safety
Louisiana State

Jones opted to forego his senior season and a promising baseball career and enter the NFL draft early.  A physical and highly athletic player, Jones can play either safety spot but will battle for the starting strong safety position in camp.  Noted for his open field tackles, Jones must improve in pass coverage but has shown the eye/hand coordination that gives him the potential to be one of the best all-around safeties in the game.

Mike Kafka
Round 4, Pick 112
Quarterback
Northwestern

Kafka was a second-team All-Big Ten selection as a senior after leading the conference in passing yards (3,430), total offense (3,729), completions (319), completion percentage (64.8) and INT percentage (2.44). A dual threat from the quarterback position, Kafka also amassed 887 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in his collegiate career.  Outstanding accuracy and leadership from the quarterback position, he's a tough player that has a special grit to his game.

Clay Harbor
Round 4, Pick 122
Tight End and Fullback
Missouri State

A three-time All America selection, Harbor set a Missouri State record with 150 career catches for 1,906 yards and 10 touchdowns in his four-year career.  He's a good football player and big enough that he can work in-line, at the line of scrimmage. He's willing and able to block defensive linemen and as an athlete, is a very strong route runner.

Roddrick Muckelroy
Round 4, Pick 124
LB
Texas

Muckelroy is a student of the game, one who breaks down game films, spots tendencies of the opposition and serves as a coach on the field while also mentoring his younger teammates.  Muckelroy's work ethic helped him become one of the Longhorns’ defensive leaders. His ability to play any of the three linebacker positions proved to be invaluable. Most of his starting experience came at the weak-side linebacker position, but when 2009 fall camp injuries depleted the depth at middle linebacker, he made a seamless transition moving inside, going on to earn All-Big Twelve Conference honors for the second time as a starter.  He might not look like the most intimadating player on the field, his versatility and special teams experience could prove valuable.

Austen Lane
Round 5, Pick 144
Defensive End
Murray State

“My first goal is I want to hurt the quarterback. I don’t want to just hit somebody, I want to hurt them. I want to cause pain,” Lane said.  “They say I have a great motor and I should be competing for playing time,” Lane said. “Off the field, I’m laid back, won’t cause any problems. Once I cross that white stripe, something snaps in my head.”  Austen, welcome to Charlotte!

Jamar Chaney
Round 7, Pick 223
Linebacker
Mississippi State

A two-time second-team All-SEC recipient, Chaney racked up 288 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two interceptions in his collegiate career.  Chaney can do a variety of things and is capable of playing all three linebacker positions. Known as a great blitzer, Chaney is also athletic enough to cover tight ends and running backs out of the backfield.
